About Me
My name is Fatoumata Njai, known as Fatima by many. I was born and raised in Spain to migrant parents who left their home country in search of better opportunities for their children. In 2013, my family and I moved to the United Kingdom to continue building a better future, and since then the UK has been my home.
Growing up between cultures shaped the way I understood people, identity, and society from a very young age. It also taught me the importance of resilience, emotional awareness, and the silent struggles that many individuals in minority communities experience.
Academic Background
BSc (Hons) in Forensic Psychology
MSc in Forensic Psychology
Currently pursuing a MSc in Criminology & Criminal Psychology
Professional Experience
I currently work in the stroke and cognitive unit within the NHS and also worked in various mental health environments, where I witnessed how culture, trauma, and social context shape people’s emotional worlds.
These experiences, combined with my personal journey, inspired The Human Mindset.
Why was The Human Mindset created?
Growing up in a migrant household comes with unique obstacles, many you don’t recognise until adulthood.
As children, we often normalise emotional patterns, behaviours, trauma, or family dynamics simply because they’re all we’ve ever known. Only with knowledge and reflection can we say:
“That wasn’t normal, and it wasn’t okay.”
This awakening is common in minority families, where:
Emotional expression is discouraged
Mental health is taboo or misunderstood
Survival is prioritised over wellbeing
Generational trauma is passed down silently
Mental health becomes hidden, spiritualised, or denied, while systemic barriers like racism, migration stress, and cultural pressure deepen the impact.
The Human Mindset was created to break this silence.
My Mission
Increase Psychological Self-Awareness
Helping individuals understand their emotions, patterns, and behaviours from a culturally informed lens.
Break Generational and Social Cycles
Supporting people in identifying behaviours they once believed were “normal,” but were rooted in trauma, fear, survival, or cultural pressure.
Provide Accessible, Culturally Attuned Psychological Education
Translating academic psychology, criminology, and sociology into content that resonates with real life.
Create a Safe Community and Conversation Space
A place where people can learn without shame, ask questions, and feel understood.
Promote Healing Through Understanding
Encouraging emotional growth and healthier mindsets by making sense of personal and cultural history.
Make Mental Health Knowledge Reachable
Bringing psychological education to people who were never offered it, especially in minority communities.
